Go and make disciples

Jeremy and I are now in the airport in Miami waiting to board our last flight to the Dominican republic for a mission trip with our church. We are exited and nervous but trusting that God will keep safe and healthy. Our group of ten would appreciate your prayers, we are praying that the Lord will work through us to touch the hearts of the people.

I will have lots of pictures and hopefully a great post about what all the Lord does while we are there!

Winters Little's Airplane Shower

There was one more big event at the end of February that I left off the last post, but it was so important that it needed a post of its own. Of course I'm talking about my best friend, Whitney's baby shower!!

It was a special day to celebrate the coming arrival of baby Winters Little! I was so excited to see all my sweet friends and especially Whitney and  her baby bump! Whit and I grew up together and have been friends since we were born, literally we had spend the night parties when we were in diapers! haha! Unfortunately I don't get to see her as much as I'd like anymore, she and her husband, Boston, live in Oklahoma. Boston is a pilot instructor in the Airforce, so of course we had an airplane themed baby shower for Whitney & Winters!

February Recap

Well I wanted to recap our February since I didn't get started back blogging until the end of the month.

First, I have an announcement....

Yes, I have braces! I got them in January and I have to say that I forget that I have them until I see photos of myself (which I hate). Therefore, I may not be including many pictures of myself on the blog or anywhere else for the next two years. (Yes I said two years!) I'm just hoping it goes by quickly.

Okay lets move on to better things!

Early in February, several couples from our Sunday school class got together and we rode in a limo to Jackson for dinner at PF Changs. We had a great time of fellowship and fun! Oh and delicious lettuce wraps!

Next up in February was Valentines Day aka Daisy's Birthday!

Jeremy and I didn't exchange gifts for V-day, just cards and it was so funny because our cards were almost identical. We decide to just spend the evening at home instead of fighting the crowds at a restuarant. It was nice! We did celebrate Daisy's birthday though with treats and new toys! It is so cute because she knows when a gift is for her and she gets so excited!

Over President's Day weekend we decided to pack up and go camping. I've been wanting to go to Oak Mountain State Park in Birmingham, AL for a while. It is a very big state park with lots of activities such as hiking, horseback riding, golf, fishing, etc. Unfortunately we didn't spend the whole weekend because of some bad weather that came through on Saturday night and was predicted to last well into Sunday. So we packed it up and headed back home.

Although our trip was cut short, we had alot of fun and got to experience our favorite parts of camping. We cooked hotdogs and smores over the fire, so good! Then on Saturday morning, Jeremy made us eggs and I made beignets! I really enjoy cooking outdoors!! We hiked to a waterfall at the park even though it was raining a little. It was pretty and we had fun inspite of the weather. I think Daisy had the most fun of all running around and eating what we dropped on the ground..oops!

 

 

We will definitely be planning another

trip to Oak Mountain soon!

Lent?

I realize I'm a little behind on this post considering that Ash Wednesday, the beginning of lent, was a couple of days ago but I wanted to write about it in order to hopefully keep myself accountable. See I'm very bad at discipline, I tend to start things and not always carry them out. Yes, I admit it!

Lent is the 40 days before Easter, in which Jesus fasted and was tempted in the desert before his crucifixion and resurrection. It is a time for us to reflect, repent, and pray in order to prepare our hearts and souls for Easter.

Matthew 4:1-2

 ¹ Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

 ² After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Many Christians give up or sacrifice a luxury for lent such as sweets or cokes. Although I really need to give up these things I don't feel that would be a sacrifice that would bring me closer to Jesus or prepare me for Easter. My desire is to grow closer to God through the next 40 days and live in such a way that others see Jesus shining through me. I am committing to sending a note of encouragement to a different person each day for the next 40 days. I will also pray for this person throughout the day, who knows what God will have in store through this journey. I know he will lay on my heart the exact person who needs his love and encouragement at just the right moment.

Matthew 6:8

⁸ Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Oh and I'm giving up Diet Coke too, because I've been drinking ALOT lately! Too Much!
